Overview
The central WDS service is intended for one-time or infrequent system imaging, such as the remediation of a compromised or inoperable system, or the deployment of a new computer to a faculty or staff user. Access to WDS is limited to an authorized Technical Support Contact (TSC) and/or IT support staff for a department or college. To be authorized, ITS must certify that a department's network meets the minimum requirements to participate in the service.
Features
- Deploys a common Windows desktop image running Windows Vista Enterprise with Microsoft Office 2007, UT-licensed security software, and BevoWare applications
- Streamlines rebuilds, upgrades, and new computer deployment - systems may be ready for use in less than one hour
- For large scale deployments, a local WDS service may be needed
Cost
The WDS service is available at no cost to authorized staff.
