To request access to the ITS WDS Server, send a support request to the ITS Help Desk by completing the following steps.
- Log in using your EID.
- Click the Requester Console link on the left side.
- In the next window, click the Create a New Request button near the top left.
- A pop‐up window for the new request will appear. Your name, e-mail address, and phone number will appear on the right. Verify your contact information.
- Click the arrow to the right of the Summary field and select Service Request then Windows Deployment Service Request (WDS). The Notes field will automatically display the following questions you must answer to complete the request.
The following questions are required:- Which Department? – this is the department which you provide tech support for
- Which Building? – the building in which you wish to use WDS. Please type the building name.
- Subnet? – enter the IP subnet for the network. This should be in the form of the
subnet and network bits, e.g. 192.168.100.0/24 for a 256 address subnet. - VLAN? – the numerical value ITS Networking has assigned to the VLAN, e.g. 1234.
- IP Address? – an IP address that you wish to have access the WDS service, e.g.
192.168.100.101. This can assist us in determining the proper subnet and VLAN.
- Select an option from the Urgency pull-down menu. You can leave the default, 3-Medium.
- (Optional) Enter a date in the Date Required field.
- Click the Save button.
After your request is submitted, you will be contacted by ITS Networking to confirm whether or not your building network and subnet qualify to use the ITS WDS service. Your subnet must have a DHCP scope in order to use WDS, as that is a key component to the boot and discovery process. Once your network has been cleared and configured to use WDS, ITS User Services will then grant your EID access to the WDS server. You will then be able to use the service.
