Searching for University Addresses
By default, the university directory is included in the search lists on Webmail. This option includes university e-mail addresses in an Address Book search, or and lets you find the address of someone at the university while you are composing an e-mail message.
Adding/Removing the University Directory to the List of Searchable Address Books
- From the top of any Mail page, click the Address Book icon to display the My Address Book page.
- Click the Options icon at the top of the page to display the Address Books Options page, then click the Address Books link.
- If you want the university directory included, make sure UT Austin Directory appears in the right column of address books that will display in Webmail. If not, click the UT Austin Directory name in the left column, then click the hand icon that points right to add it as a searchable address book. To remove the university directory, click the UT Austin Directory name in the right column, then click the hand that points left.
- Click the Save Options button.
After you add the university directory to your Address Book, you can view the name, e-mail address, and other useful information for anyone who works for or attends the university by using one of the Address Book search options.
Searching for a University Address While Composing a Message
- Make sure your Webmail is configured to include UT Austin Directory as a searchable address book, as described in the previous procedure.
- In the Message Composition window, type a nickname or partial name into the To field.
- Click the Expand Names icon under the Charset pull-down menu. If only one match is found, that e-mail address displays in the To field. If multiple matches are found, click the pull-down list menu in the To field to select the correct recipient. Alternatively, if only one match is found, you can press the Tab key instead of Expand Names to display the e-mail address (this option currently does not work in Safari).
