Junior Melessa Rodriguez was appointed as a non-voting student representative to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s Apply Texas Advisory Committee. Rodriguez will provide the committee with a student perspective as they address issues dealing with the public university application process.

“I am excited and honored to be representing The University of Texas at Austin on the committee,” she said. “I hope to use my experiences to provide good insight and recommendations to improve the Apply Texas application, and plan to continue garnering student input throughout my tenure as student representative.”

Rodriguez was one of three students chosen from more than 100 nominees representing 30 institutes to serve on advisory committees beginning June 1. She is a second year student double majoring in journalism and Mexican American Studies. Rodriguez is a member of Kappa Delta Chi Sorority, Inc., co-director of university relations for the Latino Leadership Council, student representative on the Faculty Council’s Subcommittee on Recruitment and Retention and a member of Student Government.
