    Top graduating scholars share their dreams

    Five graduating top scholars — Kenya Wells, Lynne Chantranupong, Marissa Duswalt, Zuhair Khan and Grace Eckhoff — share their dreams and aspirations to change the world after commencement.

      I feel an overwhelming sense of pride that my daughter is part of a system that produced the top scholars depicted in this video. Each of the five graduates has articulated a vision that does indeed make the world a better place. I am inspired to do more, to help more and to live an inspired and inspiring life.

      I am a parent of an incoming freshman and thoroughly enjoyed the stories and accomplishments these exceptional students shared. I can't wait to this with my son. I know he is looking forward to all the opportunities he will have at UT!

This university produces more graduates than any of the other great American public universities. But on graduation day, what is even more striking than the quantity and diversity of the graduates is the obvious connection between the university and the broader community. Three graduates were singled out and given the tremendous honour of rising before their graduating peers and the watching public. Not for perfect GPAs or GRE scores, or for admission to elite graduate schools, but for their outstanding contributions to their community at the young age of 21. One served his country in Iraq and graduated with degrees in history and drama. One came from an underprivileged community in Texas and was already using her Engineering degree to better their lives.
