The Hearts of Texas Charitable Campaign, a philanthropy effort by employees of The University of Texas at Austin, recently announced it raised $602,615 for participating charities.
Since 1996, Hearts of Texas, which is part of the State Employee Charitable Campaign, has provided an easy and efficient way for employees to make donations to causes they care about. The campaign ran Oct. 1-31.

The 2010 Hearts of Texas Charitable Campaign has officially ended. Thanks to a dedicated group of volunteers and the generosity of The University of Texas at Austin’s employees a total amount of $602,615 was raised. The campaign’s success in raising this amount demonstrates the university’s commitment to helping others less fortunate during difficult economic times. Everyone who contributed has made it a little easier for the charities to reach their goals and missions in the coming year.
During this holiday season we are reminded of the spirit of giving, and the Hearts of Texas is just one example of how the campus annually comes together to give back to the community by raising funds for many noteworthy causes that directly impact others, including children and their families.
Again, we would like to send a big thanks to everyone who contributed to the campaign, and especially to all of the district coordinators and department representatives in the colleges, departments and units campus-wide who volunteered to promote and encourage participation among university employees.
Without these individuals the campaign would not be nearly as successful. Please join us in celebrating our accomplishment of raising more than $600,000 that will go to many charities throughout central Texas. We thank you again for your generosity in giving to the 2010 Hearts of Texas Charitable Campaign and helping a charity extend their services to even more central Texans.
