Joey graduated as the valedictorian from Klein Oak High School in Spring, Texas in May. He was accepted to The University of Texas at Austin for fall.

Throughout all four years at Klein, he has been a member of the marching band, full orchestra and wind ensemble. He has performed at various shows, instructed younger students about marching techniques and performed upper-level music as a first-chair oboist.

As a prominent student in his high school’s International Baccalaureate (IB) courses, Joey has helped his teachers interview prospective freshmen for the IB program. Other activities involving the IB program include helping to organize a senior prom party for local senior citizens and a Halloween party for the special education students at Klein Oak.

During his senior year, Joey served as president of the Science National Honor Society, the news editor for the Panther Press, the school paper, and was selected to the Superintendent’s Council, where he represented Klein Oak at a school board meeting to suggest ideas for policy changes.

He was also honored to be on the Student Advisory Committee, representing the study body during a meeting with the school principal to suggest revisions to the handbook.

Joey was also involved with a multitude of organizations including the Spanish club and Spanish Honor Society, Academic Octathlon/Decathlon, Mu Alpha Theta and various University Interscholastic League teams.
