  • Meet a Forty Acres Scholar: Anne Alexander

    Anne Alexander is one of 10 top entering freshmen from across the state selected to receive the prestigious Forty Acres Scholarship, a new program from the Texas Exes Scholarship Foundation.

    Anne graduated from Stratford High School in Houston, Texas in May. She was accepted to The University of Texas at Austin in the fall for the Business Honors program. She is a National Merit Scholar Finalist and a Statford High School valedictorian.

    Anne held several leadership positions at Stratford, including serving as president of the school’s chapters of Business Professionals of America and the Academy of Finance. She also served in leadership positions for the school newspaper, the Junior Achievement Entrepreneurial Club, the cross country team and the United International Club, whose mission is to raise diversity awareness and cultural enrichment within the school and surrounding community. In 2009, she founded the Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund and helped to raise a significant amount of money to donate to the Red Cross.

    In addition to her work through school organizations, Anne has held internship positions with KPMG LLP and Hoover Slovacek LLP, Attorneys at Law. In March 2010, she traveled to Washington, D.C. to represent Stratford High School along with 28 other Houston students through the Archer Internship Program, where she met with congressional representatives as well as a Supreme Court Justice to discuss the healthcare legislation debate.

      It is nice to know that there are students like Anne who seem to be serious with their studies. Despite the fact that she belongs to several organizations, she still manages to balance and manage her time. Awesome! :)

      This student Anne Alexander, has indeed achieved great things beyond her years. I would like to commend her leadership as well as the projects she created, in pursuit of relief funds to help other people. I wish her luck on future endeavors!
