This election year, expect political advertising to get more targeted and personalized, says Government scholar Victoria M. DeFrancesco Soto.

Now that candidates basically have unlimited funds to spend on their campaigns, your quip about targeting left-handed political science majors at Big 12 Schools is really not that far off--they can afford to target anyone and everyone very specifically. In addition to targeting very specific groups, they've also been targeting very specific issues and talking points and have done so across a huge variety of media. Unfortunately, I think the ridiculous amounts of money being spent on this election cycle have mainly served to further increase the disconnect most people feel with politicians and the political sphere as a whole.
I find what you have to say interesting. While in Madison, Wis. this past summer I was able to see a small exhibit of dated political artwork. Regretfully, I was unable to see the exhibit at the Met.(NYC) this pass Fall. I would like to bring your attention to my website; www.bush-it-usa.com. I have thought of proposing to some professors , to have their classes follow the progression of the site. What is the potential for change as a result of an individuals' personal effort? The site is just political and the desired aim is to create opposition to the re-election of Obama. Political art will be the main tool for accomplishing this feat. It is worth noting, that in 2008 I went knocking door to door, to get the vote out for Obama. So I am hardly typical of those stereotypes that hate Obama. I will try to take advantage of my twenty plus years in the mental health field. It will be highly interesting where this campaign leads. I will throw out a challenge. I can not afford media time to offer the public slick political advertisement. It is a grassroots effort to demonstrate democracy and liberty. I would welcome if some of your students wanted to personally join in. The artwork can only be effective if it is viewed. With the internet and social media, we have seen movements for change, like the "Arab Spring". in Egypt. They could consider it a project or an experiment, to see what can be achieved. I would hate for them to miss out in sharing in this unique experience. My plan is to introduce more and more artwork that will have a greater psychological impact. I wish I had the opportunity to take one of your courses and I say that sincerely.
