The art of giving up

  Came across this article by accident but I have to say an amazing piece of writing... I have just embarked on giving something up I have just started, mainly because it will take me nowhere nearer where I want to go in life than if I don't do it. I have been guilty of working for achievement; so much so it nearly killed me 3 years ago - I was always committed to achieving - in fact hyper-committed - I was addicted to achieving/completing, even if I didn't want to. I did whatever it took, and it nearly took my life. Since then I have 'gotten off the fairground carousel' and now do things I want to do... if something means I am going to have to give more than I am able (or willing) then I don't do it. I won't compromise on my happiness any longer.

  Interesting perspective. Many many years ago my father told me 'Happiness is not a station you arrive at, it's a manner of traveling.' Happiness is the ultimate goal of everything that we do.
