This speech literally brought tears to my eyes. What wisdom and inspiration –the Act One part of the speech especially got to me - thank you. I now have an ambition to do as John Peyton did and play harmonica at my daughters’ graduation, because playing harmonica is one of my highest expressions of life on this planet – it can be a beautiful instrument.
My family and I are all BYU alumni, and my daughter Tania graduated from BYU with her B.Sc. and M.Sc., and on to UT for her Ph.D. What a wonderful university you have. The campus is wonderful, the people are friendly, and of course the commencement speech by Marcia Gay Harden was just so wonderful. Not only did it bring tears to our eyes, it touched our hearts, and gave us a greater love for her and for UT because you have turned out some outstanding students. Hook 'em, Horns! You are just wonderful, and my husband, and my second oldest son, are proud to wear the UT T-shirts and the caps with the logo on it. What a wonderful experience that was. I can now see all the joy and love my daughter feels for you, and some of her professors, to name a few, Joe, oh better not say in case I leave others out, but she had a wonderful experience, and it was crowned with the festivities of the spring graduation.
