 March 1, 2010
| Time: | 5-7 p.m. |
| Description: | As part of the lecture series celebrating the 50th anniversary of Brasilia, the School of Architecture will convene a round-table discussion with professors Frederico Holanda (Universidade de Brasilia), Peter Ward (professor in sociology in the College of Liberal Arts) and Barbara Hoidn (professor in the School of Architecture). Opening remarks will be made by Fritz Steiner, dean of the School of Architecture, and the panel will be moderated by Fernando Lara, professor in the School of Architecture.
This will be a conversation about the role that Brasilia has played in the national and international realms; the contradictions of Lucio Costa's plan and its implementation; the contradictions of the international attitudes toward the city; and potential lessons from the first 50 years of Brasilia. |
