The Son Jarocho Folklorico Workshop presents la bamba.
Son jarocho emerged in Veracruz during the colonial period as a blend of Spanish, indigenous and African dance forms. As musicians perform the sones, people dance zapateado atop a large wooden platform known as a tarima. This workshop teaches the rhythms, footwork and basic partnering techniques for la bamba. Same-sex/gender partners are welcome. Guest observers are not permitted. For more information or to register, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
