In his book "Your Inner Fish," Professor Neil Shubin tells the story of evolution by tracing the organs of the human body back millions of years, long before the first creatures walked the earth. By examining fossils and DNA, Shubin shows us that our hands actually resemble fish fins, our head is organized like that of a long-extinct jawless fish and major parts of our genome look and function like those of worms and bacteria. Join us for hands-on science fair-style activities for the whole family preceding Shubin's 7 p.m. lecture.
Teachers and families are invited to join the Environmental Science Institute (ESI) book club during the pre-lecture event to discuss Shubin's book. Teachers can receive professional development credit for book club attendance. Check out the Hot Science - Cool Talks Web site to RSVP and join the book club or to find out more.
