| Description: | Silvia Henriquez is the executive director of the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health (NLIRH), one of the leading organizations working to advance the reproductive health and rights of Latinas. She has published articles in "Social Policy: Organizing for Social and Economic Justice and Democratic Participation" and "Conscience: The Newsjournal of Catholic Opinion," and is a frequent media commentator on reproductive health, rights and justice and immigration topics. In 2010 she received the Ms. Foundation for Women's "Woman of Vision" Award and the National Organization for Women's "Woman of Action" Award.
The Gender and Sexuality Center, a unit of the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement at The University of Texas at Austin, provides safe spaces for all members of the university community to explore, organize and promote learning around issues of gender and sexuality. The center also facilitates a greater responsiveness to the needs of women and the LGBTQ communities through education, outreach and advocacy. |
