Description:"We Are Here Because You Were There": How do histories of migration and empire connect in the global history of the modern United States? In this talk, Professor Paul Kramer discusses why these themes have remained largely separate in U.S. historiography and suggests ways they might be successfully joined, drawing on the history of 20th-century U.S. immigration politics.
