| Description: | "Cinderellas, Wolves and One Prince Charming" (dir. Joel Zito Araújo, 2008). Approximately 900,000 people are trafficked across international borders every year for the express purpose of sexual exploitation. Many young Brazilian women still believe they can change their lives and find their Prince Charming even as they plunge into the world of sex tourism. This compelling film journeys from northeast Brazil to Berlin in an attempt to understand the ideas of sex, race and power behind the dreams of these young Cinderellas and the wolves that await them.
The Brazilian Film Series on Human Rights is presented by the Brazil Center of the Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies, UT Libraries, the Human Rights Documentation Initiative and the Nettie Lee Benson Latin American Collection. |
