| Description: | The Andean Nations/Central America Art Expo comes to Austin, featuring presentations from renowned artists of those regions. Contact Jennifer Wang (jenniferwang@austin.utexas.edu) or 512-475-6064. Light refreshments served.
The artists are touring Texas in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. They include Gabriel Gross and Julio Peña of Ecuador, Jose Rentana Leiva and Herbert Portillo Gala of El Salvador and Juan Pedro Baca Menéndez and Alonzo Rey Sánchez of Peru. The artists will lecture and show slides of their work. Their contemporary abstract paintings and drawings, universally characterized by the colors, flavor and feeling indicative of Hispanic art, are executed in a variety of styles including murals, landscapes, still life and portraits. The lecture will be followed by a reception with the artists.
