Catherine Field, Ph.D., RD, presents a talk titled "Is There a Role for Long Chain n-3 Fatty Acids in Cancer Therapy?" as part of the ongoing seminar series in the Department of Nutritional Sciences. Field is a professor and researcher at the Alberta Institute for Human Nutrition and the Alberta Diabetes Institute.
Field's research program examines the effect of nutrition on the immune system. She is currently interested in the role of diet in the initiation of autoimmune-mediated insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (Type 1 diabetes) and the use of specific lipids in the prevention and treatment of cancer and the modulation of immune function and tumor metabolism.
