Description:"Hypin' the Hep: Asian American Boobs on YouTube" is a talk by Dr. Darrell Hamamoto, who looks critically at three Asian American comedians who are among the top ten most viewed personalities on YouTube.

KevJumba (Kevin Wu), Happy Slip (Christine Gambito) and Nigahiga (Ryan Higa) exert a huge presence in a corporatist media system that otherwise limits the exposure of Asian American talent. Hamamoto explores how cynical marketing operations are exploiting the Asian American youth demographic by deploying likeable and humorous co-ethnic Judas goats that could lead them to a bad collective end.

Hamamoto is professor of Asian American studies at the University of California, Davis. His research centers on media studies and he has authored two books on U.S. network television.
