Description:The Department of Spanish and Portuguese hosts the Cervantes Society of America's Third Central Texas Cervantes Symposium. Friday's events are held on campus. Saturday's events take place at the Wizard Academy, just southwest of town.

The symposium brings together scholars from the United States and Canada who represent a diverse array of research agendas and areas of expertise. This year's program includes scholarly sessions devoted to Cervantes beyond Spain, print culture, religion and ethics, race and identity, and the emerging field of cognitive literary-cultural studies.
