Description:Share in a conversation with native Austinite Mr. Clifton VanDyke, the first Black man to work in the Office of Admissions. VanDyke was on campus with Mama Duren and Dr. John Warfield. He will discuss his campus experiences and the progress that has been made.

VanDyke graduated from the original L.C. Anderson High School and attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, serving as drum major for the "Marching 100" band. His early professional positions included deputy district clerk for Travis County and director of the Neighborhood Youth Corp. His interest in education led him to positions with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, followed by recruitment to the position of assistant director of Admissions at The University of Texas at Austin. His deep interest in community college education prompted VanDyke to accept the position of director of Admissions and Records at Austin Community College.
