Description:Ransom Center research fellow David S. Shields discusses his work at an informal lunchtime discussion. Shields received a research fellowship in support of his project "American Theatrical Photography, 1866-1920." Bring a lunch; Ransom Center provides drinks and dessert.

Shields is McClintock professor of Southern Letters at the University of South Carolina and chairman of the Carolina Gold Rice Foundation. He will address his work on the history of American stage photography, including his current research in the Ransom Center's collections as well as his work on his most recent book, "Still: American Silent Motion Picture Photography" (2013).
