| Description: | Attend a screening and discussion of "Tagut," which means "fog" in the Berber language Tashelhit. Dr. Erika Bsumek, Dr. Benjamin Brower and Emily Brownell discuss the intersection between water, environment and scholarship in the film, set in Morocco.
"Tagut" follows the work of scholar-activist Jamilla Baruch and the nonprofit organization she directs, Dar Si-Hmad, as they launch a fog-collecting project to obtain drinking water from the anti-Atlas Mountains of Morocco. The objective is to relieve women from the strain of fetching water - which takes an average of 3.5 hours per day. |
