| Description: | The Schusterman Center kicks off a week of Austin Jewish Film Festival screenings with Lawrence Kraman's new documentary feature, "David Amram: The First 80 Years."
Amram, a prolific American composer, conductor, musician and writer, was called "the Renaissance man of American music" by the Boston Globe. His impressive resume boasts over 100 orchestral and chamber music works, including film scores for "Splendor in the Grass" and "The Manchurian Candidate" and collaborations with cultural legends Charlie Parker, Thelonius Monk, Dizzy Gillespie, Willie Nelson, Langston Hughes, Leonard Bernstein, Miles Davis, Allen Ginsberg, Nina Simone, Bob Dylan and Jack Kerouac. |
