Description:Alex Nagel presents a lecture titled "Eastern Antiquities and Renaissance Europe." Nagel, professor of fine arts in the Institute of Fine Arts at New York University, points out that no term in this title was stable during the period around 1500. He argues that the formation of the conception of Europe required the settling down of the other two terms into their more restricted modern definitions.
