Events may still be submitted automatically to the new UT Events Calendar through a standards-compliant RSS or iCal feed. Please consult the UT Events Calendar Documentation for more information.

Description:Scholar and activist Murali Balaji presents a talk titled "Reconciling the Spiritual and Secular in Activism: A Personal Narrative in Dharmic Action." Balaji discusses his spiritual journey and how he relied upon his Hindu identity in forming multicultural and interfaith coalitions in his activism. Snacks provided.

A longtime advocate in the Asian American community whose seminal works include Desi Rap (2008) and Global Masculinities and Manhood (2011), Balaji challenges young activists to change existing paradigms that are predicated upon activism and spirituality being mutually exclusive.
