| Description: | The Harry Ransom Center and Texas Institute for Literary and Textual Studies (TILTS) present the Poetry on the Plaza event "Translation." Visiting poets and scholars read their favorite poems in translation as TILTS kicks off its spring symposium, "Poets & Scholars: Creative, Cultural and Critical Crossings." Refreshments served.
Readers include poets Cyrus Cassells, Marilyn Hacker, Fady Joudah, Valerie Martinez, Eileen Myles, and Urayoan Noel, as well as University of Texas at Austin faculty members Department of English chair Elizabeth Cullingford, visiting professor Gabrielle Calvocoressi, Associate Professor Meta DuEwa Jones and Associate Professor Lisa Moore. Also reading are graduate student Shamala Gallagher, as well as Lynn Keller, Martha Meier Renk-Bascom Professor of Poetry at University of Wisconsin-Madison; Laura Smith, assistant professor at Stevenson University; and Afsar Mohammad of the Asian Studies Department at The University of Texas at Austin. |
