Filming of 3-D projection on UT's Tower slated
A video production company will use the Tower at The University of Texas at Austin to film public service messages that will air on the Longhorn Network when it debuts Aug. 26.

The filming will take place in the evening hours of Tuesday, Aug. 2 and Wednesday, Aug. 3.

The filming will include the projection of three-dimensional images on the Tower beginning at nightfall and continuing throughout the night. The projections will occur on the south and east sides of the Tower and will be visible from many parts of the city.

Projectors will be set up and calibrated on Tuesday, with some test images being projected on the Tower between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. Filming of the projection will begin at about 8 p.m. on Wednesday and continue until about 6 a.m. Thursday.

The projection will involve a repeating three-minute video loop. The Tower will be darkened during the filming. The Tower clock will be stopped for the filming at 10:10 a.m. Aug. 2 and will resume normal operations Aug. 4.

Parking disruptions may occur near the Tower Aug. 2-4.
