| Description: | William Powers Jr., president of The University of Texas at Austin, delivers his seventh State of the University Address, outlining the challenges and goals for the year ahead and highlighting accomplishments from the past year. The address will be broadcast live starting at 3:45 p.m. on the web and the Longhorn Network, and on campus cable channels 11 and 13.
Powers is the 28th president of The University of Texas at Austin. Before taking office in February 2006, he was dean of the School of Law, whose faculty he joined in 1977. Since becoming president he has put special focus on undergraduate education, reforming curriculum and establishing the School of Undergraduate Studies. He is also working to create a sustainable business model for public higher education and leading efforts to incorporate new technology and advances in cognitive science into higher education. |
