| Description: | The School of Social Work hosts the 2012 Sue Fairbanks Lecture in Psychoanalytic Knowledge. Arlene Montgomery, Ph.D, LCSW, presents "Across the Social Synapse: A Neurobiological and Psychoanalytic Approach to Enactments." Montgomery has taught clinical courses at The University of Texas at Austin School of Social Work and Smith College School for Social Work since 1993. She is the author of "Neurobiology Essentials for Clinicians: What Every Therapist Needs to Know" (January 2013, in press).
Montgomery has a successful private practice in Austin, Texas, with a focus on serving clients affected by trauma, in addition to providing LCSW supervision. Her professional interests include the clinical implications of the neurobiology of relationships between and among people as they relate to social service delivery and clinical practice, with particular interest in group work, supervision, attachment, adolescents and trauma.
