| Description: | "Return of the PRI: What It Means for Democracy & Policy in Mexico" is a conference convened to analyze allegations of "vote buying" in the recent Mexican presidential election, as well as the lessons to be learned from the 2012 election cycle and aftermath. To register, contact LLILAS Public Programs at
LLILAS.publicprograms@austin.utexas.edu.
Comparing the "New" and "Old" PRI, the conference will explore the wider implications of the return of the PRI for democratic consolidation in Mexico as well as the challenges it faces in several key policy areas: energy, security, political reform, social welfare and U.S.-Mexico relations. Faculty and graduate student specialists at UT Austin will be joined by leading academics from the USA and Mexico, as well as by top officials from Mexico's two principal federal election bodies, the IFE and TEPJF. |
