Description:"Geopolitics, Fiscal Constitution, and Statecraft: The Qing Empire Revisited" is a talk by Dr. Huaiyin Li, Institute for Historical Studies fellow and professor of modern Chinese history at The University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Mark Metzler, associate professor of history and Asian studies at the University of Texas at Austin, responds.

Most recently, Li is the author of "Reinventing Modern China: Imagination and Authenticity in Chinese Historical Writing." His current project is tentatively titled "China Before the Rise: Maoist Economy and Politics Revisited."
