| Description: | John, Viscount Hastings (1901-1990), heir to an ancient earldom, was brought up as a hard-riding philistine, an unquestioning Tory expected to restore the family fortunes by marrying an heiress. Instead, he ran off with a glamorous Italian Communist. In 1931, he met Diego Rivera and became his assistant, accompanying him to Mexico, Chicago and Detroit. This talk is presented by the Red Earl's daughter, Selina Hastings, a writer and journalist. |
