Description:Language practices of the Japanese diaspora in the U.S. and Brazil are the focus of a panel. Chiho Sunakawa, Ph.D., anthropology, speaks about the reconstruction of Japanese families via webcam. Tomoko Sakuma, Ph.D., linguistics, lecturer in Japanese Language, discusses language ideologies in a Japanese Brazilian cultural association in São Paulo, Brazil. Attendees welcome to bring their lunch.
