April 10, 2013
Time:9-11 a.m.
Description:On January 29, University of Texas President Bill Powers announced "Smarter Systems for a Greater UT," a privatization plan proposed by 13 consultants who were paid $960,000 to come up with ideas to make UT "more efficient." The plan proposes outsourcing all nonacademic services and will raise prices significantly for on-campus services. Join students and members of the Texas State Employees Union at a protest to take a stand against this plan.

The Powers plan directly affects women and minority workers on campus, as well as the students who struggle to afford the rising cost of UT.
