April 25, 2013
Time:7-9 p.m.
Description:The International Socialist Organization and guest speaker Professor Snehal Shingavi, Center for Asian American Studies, discuss President Bill Powers' proposal to privatize all nonacademic jobs, as well as a Regents proposal that favors the privatizing of academic jobs.

The Powers plan would essentially force staff in food services, janitors, parking and other departments to work for lower wages than they do now, or to leave. The UT Regents proposal would gut tenure-track programs and implement many free-market solutions that do not belong in higher education.
