Description:
Science in the Pub hosts Sheril Kirshenbaum and Lindsay Patterson
The celebration of ideas continues as Science in the Pub reaches a fever pitch this summer. The event brings fascinating presentations on science and technology to the casual environment of UT's Cactus Cafe. Attendees are invited to buy a beverage, grab a seat and dive into the world of science with unprecedented access to the scientists. Presenters are encouraged to break out of their mundane slide-by-slide shoptalk and deliver their most passionate ideas to the audience.

This week Science in the Pub features Sheril Kirshenbaum and Lindsay Patterson. Kirshenbaum is a research scientist for the Webber Energy Group at UT Austin. She will be discussing her initiatives across levels of government to improve communication between scientists, policymakers and the public, as described in her book, "Unscientific America." Lindsay Patterson, lead producer of EarthSky, a digital media company that features the voices of scientists describing their work to 15 million people daily, will initiate the discussion with an introductory presentation.

Doors open at 3 p.m.and talk begins at 5:15 pm.
