Description:
Hot Science, Cool Talks explores Jupiter's icy moon
The University of Texas Environmental Science Institute (ESI) proudly presents "Life on Europa? Exploring Jupiter's Icy Moon" with Dr. Britney Schmidt. Pre-lecture fun starts at 5:45 p.m. Lecture and webcast start at 7 p.m.

Schmidt, a postdoctoral fellow with the UT Institute for Geophysics, discusses the recent discovery of evidence for a "great lake" on Europa, a moon of Jupiter.

The existence of shallow liquid water within the ice on Europa suggests a potential new habitat for life in outer space and indicates that Europa is active today, increasing its potential to support life.
