Archives Week, sponsored by the Society of American Archivists, celebrates historical archives and their role in our society through the topic "Technology in the Archives." In this presentation, doctoral students Jane Gruning and Jessica Meyerson from the School of Information discuss their current research in digital archives.
Gruning studies the connection between digital preservation and human computer interaction, whether people think of digital objects as less "real" than physical objects, and whether this decreases the likelihood that digital objects will be preserved. Meyerson discusses her interest in combining research and practice, "persistence" in social infrastructure for digital preservation and representation of hybrid collections online.
