Description:Professor Sergey Fomel, Jackson School of Geosciences, presents "Verification and Validation of Seismic Attributes." Fomel argues that verification and validation should become standard practice for users and developers of seismic attributes.

Verification aims to confirm that the specified characteristic of a seismic signal is computed with sufficient accuracy, while validation aims to confirm that a particular attribute correlates with subsurface characteristics or with other measurements.
