Landmarks: Art on The Forty Acres

    Published: May 14

While you’re wandering through campus this graduation week, take a moment to notice the public art from the Landmarks collection.

(Check out an interactive map to get more information about which sculpture may be nearby as you take pictures with your graduate.)

Landmarks is the university’s public art program. Its installations grace the Forty Acres with more than 30 modern and contemporary works of the highest quality. The program is guided by the university’s Public Art Master Plan and follows a thorough curatorial process to secure the highest quality art that supports the university’s core values.

Launched in 2008 with a long-term loan from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, the collection continues to grow with the university. Works by renowned artists such as Mark di Suvero, Ben Rubin and Sol LeWitt are recent additions, and this fall Landmarks will celebrate the opening of a James Turrell sky space at the Student Activity Center.

To learn more about opening celebrations and other activities, join the Landmarks mailing list. Visit the Landmarks website to access information about the program, including interactive maps and youth activity guides. Or use your mobile device to access short audio tours of each piece you encounter while on campus. An interactive map and audio tour are also featured on the university’s official iPhone app.

Nice pics, but WHERE are the pieces of art pictured? It would be nice to have the info in one place.
