University of Texas Elementary School students annually grow and harvest foods in the school gardens as part of the Healthy Families Initiative, a comprehensive coordinated school wellness approach, which promotes physical activity participation and healthy nutritional behaviors among students and families.
UT Elementary School, part of the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement and the first university sponsored charter school in Texas, serves 260 pre-kindergarten to fifth graders in East Austin.
What to watch next:

This is a great way to introduce gardening to children. I believe that letting the children themselves harvest their crops would encourage them to tend their gardens well throughout the gardening period. I've seen children near condos in downtown Austin carry some of their harvests from school and all of them looked so excited!
I would love some comments for worm farming from your elementary students to put on my website about worm farming.Thank you
