MLK Jr. Day march and festival returns

    Published: Jan. 14, 2011

Above is a slide show from last year’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day march and celebration. It began with a rally at the King statue on the east mall of The University of Texas at Austin. President William Powers Jr., along with Student Government President Liam O’Rourke, welcomed the community before the march, which finished at Huston-Tillotson University.

The 17th Annual MLK March and Festival on Monday, Jan. 17 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King’s legacy.

The march kicks off at the MLK statue (23rd Street and Speedway) on The University of Texas at Austin campus and ends at Huston-Tillotson University. The festival will immediately follow.

The event is free and open to the public.

Read more about this year’s march on the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement blog or at www.mlkcelebration.com.
