    With its French, Spanish and Creole influences, New Orleans has the oldest black urban community of any city in the country. It also has a shocking history of police brutality that is told in “Black Rage in New Orleans: Police Brutality and African American Activism from African American Activism from World War II to Hurricane Katrina,” a new book by History Professor Leonard N. Moore.

      To think there are Americans who would give power to Republicans after they sent American troops to fight and die in Iraq for nothing. After Republican President George W. Bush turned a surplus into debt. After the Republicans never explain what happened to their stimulus package of 350 billion dollars. Today the Republicans are calling themselves the "Tea Party." Vote Republicans out!
