Jorge is telling the truth, and not exaggerating at all. I personally think he is being lenient with the Texas prison system. It is in desperate need of reform I served 20 years there ( many of them with Jorge) and saw uncountable beatings, rapes, stabbings, and deaths. No help whatsoever from the Administration who also actually sometimes encouraged the abuse. I am white and while never a victim I certainly could have been. Keep up the good work Jorge! Paradox: how can you write so beautifully, Jorge, about such painful, horrible, wrong, & devastating things? Thank you. Virginia Raymond Lecturer, Center for Mexican American Studies (CMAS)
