The University of Texas Solar Vehicles Team, a campus club made up of students from all academic disciplines, designs high performance racing cars powered by the sun.

Since the 1980s, the club has been custom building, testing and racing carbon-neutral electric vehicles.

What a great achievement by your team. Had no idea you could get up to speeds like 50mph. The sun creates so much energy and we just haven't taken full advantage of it. Such a pity it can have a devastating effect as well. Thinking of all you Texans as you go through tough times at the moment with those terrible bush fires. Great achievement all the same.

Great effort guys. We have a similar annual event in Australia. It runs from Alice Springs in the heart of Australia to Darwin at the far north and is around 1500km. All done on solar energy panels etc. Most of the competitors are young teams like yourselves. Maybe we should have a race..... Well done to your team.
