The IPCC "Panel" was formed to PROVE and support Gore's position, not do a thorough, unbiased story. If we can't even start with 'facts' - how do we conduct a worthwhile discussion? The proof is obvious: we cannot trust the press - nor their professors - to provide accurate balanced news. What a sad state of affairs for our Republic.... and for it's citizens.
Dave Garlock said on Feb. 19, 2012 at 2:46 p.m. Really solid and useful comments. Tom's depth of research, from academia to blogs to Nieman to Politifacts to James Fallows,is really helpful. To me, liberal vs. conservative research is not as germane as objective/accurate vs.opinion/biased. Example: Fallows' current article in the Atlantic about about Obama is stunning for the unvarnished look he takes on the President's strengths and weaknesses. Teaching today's college journalists about their role in society is hard enough today. Tom's thoughtful piece really helps.
