Bruce A. Broillet is a partner in the Santa Monica firm of Greene, Broillet & Wheeler, LLP. He handles a wide range of cases from product liability and catastrophic personal injury to various types of business litigation. He has obtained numerous seven and eight figure verdicts and settlements for his clients.
As an example, Bruce has recovered $3.3 billion against Big Tobacco on behalf of the County of Los Angeles, $45.6 million in a legal malpractice case involving a real estate deal, $32.5 million in a product liability case, and $25 million in a construction accident case and he has handled cases against such diverse defendants as International Telephone and Telegraph (ITT), Slumberger Corp., Ambassador Insurance Company, American Appliance Corporation, Isuzu Motor Co., General Motors, State of California, County of Imperial, Globe Machinery Company, Mercury Air Group, Robertson Honda, E.W. Bliss Corp., and Turner Construction Company.
Bruce served as President of the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles in 1994 and has received its Trial Lawyer of the Year Award and its Ted Horn Memorial Award. He served as President of the Consumer Attorneys of California in 2001 and has received its Robert E. Cartwright Award, its Edward I. Pollock Award, and its Marvin E. Lewis Award. Bruce received the Civility Award from the American Board of Trial Advocates in 2001 and he was named Litigator of the Year by the Century City Bar Association in 2005.
Mr. Broillet has been listed repeatedly as one of the Top Ten Super Lawyers in Southern California in Los Angeles Magazine/Super Lawyers Magazine, and he was the “Top Point Getter” in 2008. He has also been named on multiple occasions as one of the Top 100 lawyers in California by the Los Angeles Daily Journal and as one of the 500 Leading Lawyers in America by Lawdragon magazine. California Lawyer Magazine listed Bruce among California’s most respected plaintiff’s lawyers. He is named in Best Lawyers in America.
In 2006, Loyola Law School presented Bruce with its Champion of Justice Award. That same year, the Foundation for Taxpayer and Consumer Rights presented him with its Lifetime Legal Achievement Award. He has also been elected a Fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, the American College of Trial Lawyers, and the International Society of Barristers. He has served on the Board of Governors of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers. Bruce is a founding member of Trial Lawyers for Public Justice and he holds the rank of Advocate in the American Board of Trial Advocates.
Bruce’s community service includes his work on the Board of the Success Through the Arts Foundation which benefits the arts programs at several schools in South Central Los Angeles. He also serves as a member of the Advisory Council for the College of Arts and Letters at the University of Notre Dame. And he is on the executive committee of the Alumni Association at the University of Texas School of Law. Bruce has established multiple scholarships to the University of Notre Dame and to the University of Texas School of Law in the names of his parents, his wife’s parents, and his uncles. And he established both a computer room and a high tech teaching facility at his high school in El Paso, Texas, Cathedral High School.
Mr. Broillet received his B.A. from the University of Notre Dame in 1971 and his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law in 1974. He was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. He is married to Norah and they have a son, Dalton.
