Nina Cortell

For more than 37 years, Nina Cortell, a partner at Haynes and Boone, LLP, has represented corporations, public entities and individuals in cases that have put her at the forefront of Texas litigation practice.  Best Lawyers named Ms. Cortell its "2013 Dallas Bet-the-Company Litigation Lawyer of the Year," and Chambers USA Guide ranks her as one of the top appellate lawyers in Texas. Benchmark Litigation describes her as "renowned throughout the state for her appeals work." Texas Lawyer identifies her as a “top-notch” appellate lawyer, quoting sources who describe her as “the complete package:  excellent arguments, excellent writing” and note “she’s a good person to call when a case has gone terribly bad.”  She was named one of the top ten lawyers in Texas by Texas Super Lawyers for the last three years.

Ms. Cortell works actively with the judiciary to improve the judicial process and serves on the prestigious Texas Supreme Court Advisory Committee. In recognition of her many years of public service, the Texas Center for Legal Ethics awarded Ms. Cortell the 2013 Jack Pope Professionalism Award, which is given annually to one lawyer and one judge who personify the highest standards of professionalism and integrity in the field of law.

Ms. Cortell has also been very involved with the Law School.  She previously served as President of the Alumni Association and President of the Texas Law Review Association.  She is a co-founder and President of the Center for Women in Law at the Law School.

She is married to Dr. Robert L. Fine and has three daughters, Dr. Lauren Cortell Fine, Rachel Moreland, and Becca Fine.
